Acharya Bhrigu Giri Maharaj Passes Away

Pratidin Bureau

AcharyaShri Shri Bhrigu Giri Maharaj has breathed his last on Monday morning at 8 AMin Dispur Polyclinic Hospital. He was 90 years at the time of his death.

Maharajji was suffering from old-age ailments and was under treatment at DispurPolyclinic. He was the founder of Panchakanya Ashram and Mrityunjoy Temple inNagaon.

Baba got his name as Sri Sri Bhrigu Giri Maharaj after the great incident occurred on 16th February 1980 – the day of complete solar eclipse when the spirit of Maharshi Bhrigu entered his body and enlightened his soul in oneness with Bhrigu's identity in a supremely miraculous & divine way to accomplish many divine tasks having deep spiritual significance for the mankind. His revelation on Bheemashankar Jyotirlinga present in the  Panchakanya Dham and linkage with various related historical places, which suffered mutation in name and form in a distant time in Ancient Assam, and clarifications of many misconceptions and misinterpretations thereof, have significant importance for us, especially for Assam.

The last rites of Maharaj jiwill be performed at Panchakanya Ashram at 3 PM today.
