Agartala Airport to be named after Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishor Manikya Bahadur: Tripura CM

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Wednesday informed that the Agartala Airport shall be named after Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishor Manikya Bahadur.

Deb said that it is a historic decision taken by the centre, for the people of Tripura. " Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishor Manikya Bahadur was the architect of modern Tripura. On this historic day of naming of the Agartala Airport in his remembrance, I bow to the great visionary leader of our beloved state" Biplab Kumar Deb. He also thanked PM Narendra Modi for the same.

This decision comes in wake of the long pending demand of people of Tripura as well as the state government for paying tribute to Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur.

It may be mentioned here that Agartala Airport was constructed in 1942 on the land donated by Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur.
