AGP leader shot dead in Bongaigaon

In a sensational incident an Assam Gana Parishad (AGP) leader has been shot dead by unknown gunmen in Bongaigaon's Ganabinna on Monday. The deceased AGP leader is identified as  Jamdahar Hafeez .He hailed from Manikpur's No 6 Jamdoha. The murder is suspect it to be a political killing. The former ward member's body is under Kolila Police Station custody.

Police said that prima facie it appeared that the ward member was beaten before he was shot dead by criminals.

As per his family members, local residents identified as Mahir Uddin and Dilwar Hussain had earlier threatened to kill Hafeez.

Instances of violence are being registered across Assam as Panchayat Election campaigns intensify and may such incidents have occurred in the past few days.

An FIR has been lodged at the police station concerned in this connection and Police have started probe of the murder.
