Pratidin Bureau

Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) and Assam Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parisad (AJYCP) on June 25 organised a protest against the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 at Goalpara.

KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi said "We will never accept the Citizenship Amendment Bill. We can never allow citizenship to be granted to thousands of Bangladeshis who have been living in Assam illegally."

Akhil Gogoi further added that the BJP government is trying to bring Bangladeshis into Assam by passing the Bill. "Lakhs of Hindu Bangladeshis had entered Assam after 1971. If the bill is passed, they will become citizens of Assam. Each and every person, irrespective of their religion, who came to Assam after 1971 must be detected and deported" he said.

KMSS leader Anil Bora alleged that the BJP government is on the way to destroy the integrity of Assam in the name of change. "BJP is setting up their vote bank to be in power" he added.

It may be mentioned here that around five lakh people participated in the protest.
