Assam COVID-19: Death Toll Reaches 21

Assam on Wednesday reported five deaths of COVID-19, taking the toll to 21. After four deaths reported in the morning, another death has been reported from Udalguri. The deceased has been identified as Jitendra Prasad (30).

The state Health and Family Welfare Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma through his twitter handle informed that the youth was admitted to Tezpur Medical College and Hospital (TMCH) on July 7 and succumbed to the disease on July 8 with features of Septicaemia in shock with history of herbal medication.

The minister in his tweet wrote, "Condolences.

Sad to inform that Jitendra Prasad (30) from Majbat, Udalguri admitted on July 7 at Tezpur Medical College, with features of Septicaemia in shock with history of herbal medication, became victim of #COVID19.

So sad to see young lives being lost!"

The death toll in Assam due to COVID-19 reached 21.

However, 13336 positive cases have been registered in the state with Kamrup (M) the worst affected.
