Assam: Elephant Calf Rescued In Golaghat

The forest department rescued an elephant calf at Miripathar under Bokial Beat in Golaghat district on Thursday.

The two-and-half-month-old elephant calf was rescued after locals informed the authorities.

As per reports, the elephant was wandering around after it mother tragically died due to electrocution on Sunday.

"The two and a half months old elephant calf was rescued by Forest personnel this morning. As it was weak, it was shifted to the Centre for Wildlife Rehabilitation and Conservation (CWRC) at Panbari for treatment and rehabilitation," said Divisional Forest Officer, Golaghat, SK Thakuria.
