Assam floods: CM to take stock of situation

Pratidin Bureau

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal is scheduled to visit Upper Assam to take stock of the situation of the devastating floods in the region on Wednesday.

Landing in Gohpur, the CM is slated to visit Buroi Ghat to review the havoc that the floods have caused and also to check on the living conditions of the flood affected people.

Later the CM will head back to Gohpur, where he would assess the flood conditions of the Chatrang River and meet the elders of the locality to discuss the problems they have been facing; he would fly to Naoboicha and Lakhimpur.

It may be mentioned here that the conditions of the flood in Naoboicha have still not improved. With the Singra River changing its course, many people have been rendered homeless.

The flowing flood waters have damaged the highways and also have swept away local roads spreading a situation of panic among the flood-affected.

Towards the end of Sonowal's visit to the region, a meeting with the high ranking officials has been scheduled at the district's circuit house.
