Assam floods: Khaleque to donate one month’s salary

CongressMP from Barpeta, Abdul Khaleque will donate his one month salary for relief inflood-ravaged Assam, where thousands have lost their houses.

Accordingto reports, the Congress MP will donate his salary to Barpeta DistrictCongress' flood-relief fund. The Barpeta District Congress will distributerelief materials among the flood-affected people in Barpeta, Bongaigaon andNalbari districts.

Itmay be mentioned here that, MPs draw a basic salary of Rs. 1,00,000 each monthalong with constituency allowance and the secretarial costs.

Earlier, sprinter Hima Das on Tuesday donated half of her month's salary for the flood relief of the State. She reportedly contributed to Chief Minister's Relief Fund.
