Assam: Former Chief Secy PP Varma Succumbs to COVID-19

Former Assam Chief Secretary PP Varma succumbed to COVID-19 on Friday. He was under treatment at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) and breathed his last today morning.

He was appointed as the Chief Secretary on July 1, 2013.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma condoled the death of Varma. CM Sarma in a tweet wrote, "Saddened by the passing away of former Chief Secretary of Assam, Shri PP Varma, IAS. He will be remembered for his administrative acumen, especially his role in implementation of the BTR Accord. My condolences to the bereaved and prayers for his moksha. Om Shanti!"
