Assam Ranji: J&K Wins in tight game

All round performances from former India players Irfan Pathan and Parvez Rasool helped Jammu and Kashmir win an all-important tie against home team Assam by 4 wickets in the Round 8 Elite Group C match being held at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati.

Earlier, Assam batsmen showed great courage and determination to pile up 245 in the 2nd innings. At the end of Day 2, Jammu and Kashmir, in their 2nd innings were placed at 19-1, needing another 211 runs for victory, which was no easy task, considering they had scored only 144 in their 1st innings. Jammu and Kashmir started their 3rd day on a shaky note losing 2 quick wickets.

However, Shubham Khajuria, Owais Amin Shah and captain Pervez Rasool played valiant knocks and took them closer to victory. Irfan Pathan, who came lower down the order at 7th position scored an unbeaten knock of 33 off 57 deliveries and finished off the game for Jammu and Kashmir.
