Assam, Meghalaya joint border meeting held in Nongpoh

The Assam-Meghalaya border dispute has been a long standing debate between the two states. A joint border meeting in this context was held at the Nongpoh Circuit House, which was attended by the DC of West Karbi Anglong, DC of Ri-Bhoi District and the DC of West Jaintia Hills.

The SPs of all the three districts were present at the meeting.

The issue of land encroachment of West Karbi-Anglong's Block No.1 and Block No.2 were among the topics of discussion at the meeting. It was decided that district officials from both the sides need to discuss and inform the other before taking up any developmental projects in areas along the Meghalaya-Assam border in order to avoid any sort misunderstanding between the two neighbouring states.

Baithalangso MLA Mansing Rongpi and Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council's Executive Member, Rupsing Teron attended the meeting.

Several officials from the Revenue Department were also part of the meeting.
