Assam Olympic Association Committee gets dissolved

Pratidin Bureau

In a major development that will surely raise a few questions, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) today dissolved the Assam Olympic Association (AOA) committee in its Annual General Meeting held in New Delhi. They have formed an ad-hoc committee to run the required activities till the new committee is formed.

The last Annual General Meeting of the AOA was held in 2013 for a term of four years where former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and former minister Rockybul Hussain were re-elected as the president and the secretary of the organization respectively.

However, the tenure of the committee expired a year back which was adversely affecting the activities of the association. It will be interesting to see how the ad-hoc committee takes it from here and how soon the next elections are organized.
