Assamese actor arrested for possession of drugs

Assamese actor Niren Sarma has been arrested by the Latashil Police for alleged possession of banned drugs here.

He was arrested late Sunday night from Uzan Bazaar, officials said.

He acted in many Assamese films like Joubone Amoni Kore, Hiya Diya Niya, Tyag, Hriday Kopuwa Gaan, Priya Milan, Bhumi Putra etc.

Acting on a tip-off, Latashil Police conducted an operation against the drugs smugglers in the city and managed to detain five suspected drug peddlers including actor Niren Sarma.
