Basketball Challengers League Begins In Guwahati

NF Railways (A) team defeated IIT Guwahati in a thrilling opening match of Assam's first ever professional Basketball competition "Basketball Challengers League" (BCL) yesterday evening held at the Basketball court in Nehru Stadium.

The first day of the league, organized by Sportscraft Management in association with Basketball Association of Assam witnessed six professional teams battling it out for maximum points and make way for the title as well as champions prize money of 1 lakh rupees.

The score line of the opening match was 103-69 and Railways' Nilam Kakoty emerged as the most valuable player (MVP) of the match.

In other two matches of yesterday night, Assam Rhinos defeated Pirates 74-28 and NF Railways (B) got the better of Assam 16 58-24. Ankit Singh of Assam Rhinos and Nilotpal Patgiri of NF Railway (B) were selected as the MVPs of these two matches respectively.

Pirates took on NF Railways (B) in Sunday's first match. Pirates will face NF Railways (A) while IIT-Guwahati will take on Assam 16 and NF Railways (B) will be up against Assam Rhinos today, informed Sportscraft Management's Managing Partner Darick Ranjan Deka in a statement.
