In another inhuman incident, the body of a newborn baby was found abandoned in Islampur near Nehru Stadium in Guwahati on Thursday morning. The newborn was found lying inside a dustbin‚ wrapped in a towel.

Locals after noticing a body of the newborn informed police and Mrityunjoy – 108 Ambulance Service. They suspected the newborn to be dead.

One of the local said, "We suspect that a waste collector has brought the newborn and he left the body along with other waste materials inside the dustbin."

Expressing anguish over the incident, the locals demanded immediate arrest of the parents responsible for this inhuman act. A case under Section-318 of IPC is likely to be registered by the police.
