CAB Protest | Akhil to start hunger strike on Uruka

After Union Minister Vijay Goel said that the Citizen( Amendment) Bill 2016 would be tabled and passed on 31st January at the Rajya Sabha, Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) chief Akhil Gogoi addressed a press conference and said he would start a hunger strike on Uruka (eve of Magh Bihu) which will continue till next the day on Friday.

The peasant leader urged the people of the state to continue the protest against the bill during Magh Bihu (Bihu of eating foods and enjoyment).

He also urged the people the burn the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 on Uruka.

Gogoi cautioned Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) not to organise any meeting during the Bihu days and appealed the people of Assam to put Anti Citizenship Bill stickers on their vehicles.

He thanked the families of martyrs' of Assam agitation for opposing the C'ship Bill and returning the awards.
