Cachar Paper Mill employees to protest during CM visit

Pratidin Bureau

As a protest against the Assam government for not meeting demands to reopen the closed Cachar Paper Mill, employees of the solitary industry of Barak Valley have planned to disrupt Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal's Barak visit on December 05.

Speaking to the media on Sunday, Chief Convener of the Paper Mills Revival Action Committee Manabendra Chakraborty stated that as it is time for Panchayat polls, Chief Minister would approach the voters with his sugar-coated promises to seek votes to win maximum votes in the polls, but it will never be fulfilled.

Further, Chakraborty said that the employees would form human chains at Panchgram and Dhaleshwari to demonstrate their angst and displeasure. They would also go to New Delhi during the upcoming Parliament session to voice their demands, added the convener.

It may be mentioned that the Chief Minister would reach Barak Valley to address public meetings across Hailakandi, Karimganj and Lakhipur during his visit to the valley.
