Cash-for-votes: Mamata Banerjee slams Himanta

Pratidin Bureau

The 42 Lok Sabha seats in Bengal have generated a huge clash between Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress and the BJP, which has been set a target of 23 seats by party chief Amit Shah.

Accusing the BJP of using "money power" to woo voters in the state, TMC Chief Banerjee has accused Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma of managing the movement of illegal cash to buy votes in the state.

Over the last weeks, PM Modi and Mr Shah, along with the party's other star campaigner Yogi Adityanath, have held around a dozen rallies in the state, going toe-to-toe with the chief minister.

Addressing a rally in Baruipur in Kolkata, she said that Sarma was camping in the city's Taj Bengal hotel for the last few days.

"Himanta is one of the prime accused in the Saradha scam. Saradha owner Sudipto Sen clearly mentioned of giving crores of rupees to Sarma." : Banerjee added.
