Clause 6 Committee Inspects Reservation of Seats in ALA

The high-level committee constituted by the Ministry of Home Affairs to recommend measures for the implementation of Clause 6 of the Assam Accord has inspected the action taken to assess the appropriate level of reservation of seats is Assam Legislative Assembly in a meeting held on Friday at Assam Administrative Staff College, Guwahati.

The committee in its second meeting today held for the first time inthe city has also inspected the local bodies for the Assamese people and hasalso suggested measures to protect the Assamese and other indigenous people ofthe state.

The first meeting of the committee was held in New Delhi on July 24.

The meeting was attended by Joint Secretary in-charge of NortheastSatyendra Garg. The others who attended the meeting are Justice (Retd.) BiplabKumar Sarma as the Chairman of the meeting, Advocate General Ramesh Borpatrogohain,Law Adviser to the Chief Minister Santanu Bharali and members of All AssamStudents' Union (AASU) among others.
