Congress’ ‘NRC-help’ tour starts today

Ateam of Assam Congress leaders will travel across the State for 16 days fromFriday to help NRC left out genuine Indian citizens. The team includes severalCongress MPs, MLAs and other leaders, including APCC president Ripun Bora,Rakibul Hussain and Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha.

The Congressteam will begin their tour from Guwahati today and end it on September 28. Theteam will visit several places in Nagaon, Hojai, Tinsukia, Chirang, Dhubri,Bongaigaon, Kamrup (Rural), Karimganj, Hailakandi, Cachar and Sonitpurdistricts.

Itmay be mentioned here that over 19 lakh people were left out of the final NRClist.

"Accordingto a decision taken by the APCC, we will visit different places of Assam to takestock of the post-NRC scenario," Congress leader Rakibul Hussain said today,adding, "The team will interact with the people whose names have not beenincluded in the final NRC list."
