COVID-19 Guwahati: Central jail prisoner tests positive

A prisoner at Guwahati Central Jail on Wednesday has tested positive for coronavirus.

25-year-old Najmul Ali was arrested for an attempt to the rape of a minor at Geetanagar police station and was sent to judicial custody at the Central jail on June 26.

The prisoner belongs from Goalpara and was living on rent at Bhaskar Nagar in Zoo Road.

Last month, the first prisoner Jintu Nath tested positive for COVID-19. Nath was arrested in Dispur police station and was kept in the isolation ward. So far eleven prisoners have been admitted to isolation wards.
