Drinking Water Crisis in Amingaon

There has been a constant problem of drinking water in Guwahati and the residence of Amingaon area are facing acute water crisis in the constituency of Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Although the people repeatedly complained about the water crisis problemin the area but still the local MLA and Department of Public Health are leastbothered about the problem.

People now have to depend on the water-pipe in the middle of the road. Although there are many water project lined upbut still the Guwahati is facing acute crises as the water supply projectsremain only as a hope for the people.

The water supply project initiated byGuwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) assisted by JapanInternational Cooperation Agency (JICA), Jawaharlal Nehru National UrbanRenewal Mission (JnNURM) and Asian Development Bank (ADB) has not yetcompleted. During the initiation of the project the GMDA official said that thewater supply project will cater uninterrupted water supply to serve thepopulation of Guwahati. The drinking water problem is a long pending problemfor the citizens but the government has not yet come out with a permanentsolution and the water supply project has also been not completed even after12years of its inception.

The water crisis in the constituency ofHimanta Biswa Sarma has proved that no development has taken place in the areaand that the water supply project under the public health department has alsofailed to provide water to the people for which around hundreds of people haveto rely on the water that rinses from the water pipe in the middle of the road.
