Exempt NRC officials from election duties : EC

The state election commission  has asked all the departments of the state to consider exempting NRC officials from election duty to ensure that NRC process continues.

The state EC, in a bid to ensure maximum polling in the upcoming Lok Sabha election, has decided to attract woman voters in the state by forming 'Sarathi'- a help desk for Women.

Assam's renowned environmentalist Green Oscar Purnima Devi Barman, Mr World Golap Rabha will be the youth icon for the poll awareness campaign. State election commission to create awareness in rural areas by Aaidewor haat puthi and Chandra Prabha.

An awareness rally 'Vote for run' will be held on March 11 at Latasil playground in the city.

Earlier, the Supreme Court had asked the state government, the NRC co-ordinator and the EC to ensure that the upcoming general elections did not slow down the process.
