Former Gauhati HC judge Hrishikesh Roy to take office as new Chief Justice of Kerala HC

Pratidin Bureau

Justice Hrishikesh Roy, senior-most judge of the Gauhati High Court, today took the oath of office as the new Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court.

A notification published by the Ministry of Law and Justice on Monday said President Ram Nath Kovind had given his assent for the transfer of Justice Hrishikesh Roy from the Gauhati High Court to the Kerala High Court.

On assuming charge, he would become the senior-most judge of the Kerala High Court and is, therefore, likely to succeed Chief Justice Antony Dominic who retires on Wednesday.

Justice Roy's name was recommended by the Collegium for transfer from the Gauhati High Court to the Kerala High Court in January this year.
