Green Tribunal to re-hear big dam case

Pratidin Bureau

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has scheduled to re-hear the NHPC big dam issue on September 4.

"After hearing, the judgment was reserved. However, it has not been pronounced within a month. Hence, it is released from being reserved and listed to be re-heard on September 4," Dr Justice Jawad Rahim (Judicial Member) and Dr Satyawan Singh Garbyal (Expert Member), said on Friday.

The case was filed in NGT by Assam Public Works (APW) and Tularam Gogoi.

On April 18 this year, NGT directed the Ministry of Environment and Forest (MoE&F) to consult all sides and resolve the objections of the 2000 MW Subansiri (Lower) hydro-power project and inform the Bench.
