On the occasion of World Asthma Day, ApolloHospitals Guwahati organised a Walkathon (1KM) on Tuesday for creatingawareness about asthma among the people.

The walkathon was started from the main gate ofthe hospital and the doctors, nurses and other hospital staffs participated inthe event.

Dr. Rohit Jaswal, Director Medical Servicesaddressed media and public to issue some advisories for the general public thatif patients have any symptoms of asthma like cough, breathing difficulty etc.should consult doctors for early diagnosis and effective management to lead anormal healthy life.

Under the supervision of Dr. Kripesh RanjanSarmah, Consultant Pulmonologist of the hospital, complementary Spirometry Testis also done for patients in the hospital all day long. Moreover leafletscontaining precautions and curative measures of asthma are also distributedamong the patients in the hospital.

World Asthma Day is a health awareness day which is observed worldwide every year. The aim of the day is to raise awareness about asthma and support for sufferers. It is a day which educates and raises awareness of the condition in the hope of relieving the sufferers and reducing deaths. In India we have 30 million people suffering from asthma and more patients are diagnosed lately due to lack of awareness.
