Guwahati: Guideline for bursting firecrackers

To ensure safety and to reduce noise as well as air pollution, Kamrup DC Biswajit Pegu has issued an order based on the Supreme Court's guidelines on the bursting of firecrackers.

According to the order, the bursting of crackers will be allowed from 8 pm to 10 pm in Guwahati. The order The Kamrup (M) DC has also fixed the decibel limit for the firecrackers at the maximum of 125DB.

Itmay be mentioned here that this year, the SC gave State governments theflexibility to choose a time slot for bursting firecrackers, however,maintaining its earlier order of allowing it for only two hours on festivaldays.

Meanwhile,the Kamrup (M) district administration has identified 20 places in Guwahati tosell firecrackers. It has also formed 5 Task Forces to keep a check on vendorsviolating the restriction placed on the selling of firecrackers.
