Ahead of Diwali celebrations, Guwahati Police has launched search operations to nab gambling dens across the city.

Police officials have been carrying out several raids in prominent locations of the city – Garchuk and Basistha. Although the law and enforcement are still tracing the prime racketeers, they have been able to recover a substantial amount of currency and stationary used in gambling.

According to reports of Pratidin Time, the police personnel has found several gambling dens in the dingy lanes of Basistha and Garchuk.

Moreover, Guwahati police have raided gambling events even in the uptown hotels of the city. Many have been either detained or arrested in this regard. Gambling events such as Teen Patti and Rummy are quite popular, and gamblers in the city may invest lakhs of rupees.
