Withonly a few days for the Independence Day, there was widespread panic followingthe recovery of a handmade bomb in Sukhuwarjhar area under Barpeta district onSunday. The bomb was recovered during an operation launched by the BarpetaPolice.

According to reports, the handmade bomb was recovered from the backyard of one identified as Kamal Uddin's house. Preliminary investigation revealed that it was a crude bomb. It was wrapped inside a plastic bag.

Meanwhile,police detained Kamal in connection with the recovery. A team of Barpeta Policeled by DSP Amrit Kalita launched the search operation in Sukhuwarjhar area torecover the bomb.

Itmay be mentioned here that continuing its crackdown against jihadis in lowerAssam ahead of the Independence Day, the Barpeta police have arrested as manyas six jihadis within five days from Barpeta, Nalbari and Chirang districts.
