Ahead of the Bihu, the Nalbari district administration on Friday seized a huge quantity of Gamochas from different parts of the district that was imported from outside Assam and was supposed to be dispatched to the other parts of the State in view of the Rongali Bihu festivities.

According to reports, raids were carried out in several textile commercial establishments in the Nalbari town and more than thousand pieces of power loom-made Gamochas worth rupees several lakhs were seized.

Locals in Nalbari said that the drive has sent a strong message for the traders making lucrative business through illegal marketing of such imported Gamochas during Bihu season.
