IMD predicts heavy rainfall in Assam

Places such as sub-Himalayan Assam, West Bengal, Sikkim, Meghalaya and Bihar are likely to receive heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours, predicted the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday.

"Heavy rainfall at isolated places over Assam, Sikkim and Bihar over the next 24-hours," IMD said.

Earlier, the Regional Meteorology Centre forecasted weather for Assam on July 12: Maximum possibility of extremely heavy rainfall in Dima Hasao district while there is the probability of heavy rainfall occurring over Baksa, West Karbi Anglong, East Karbi Anglong, Golaghat, Jorhat, Dhemaji, Cachar and Karimganj districts.

The IMD today further said, "Heavy to very heavyrainfall at isolated places over Konkan, Goa, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh,East Uttar Pradesh and Arunachal Pradesh."

Apart from these, States such as Manipur, Mizoram,Tripura and Gangetic West Bengal will also witness rain showers.
