IOA All set to form State Olympic body

The newly appointed ad-hoc committee of the Assam Olympic Association (AOA) is likely to set up the body at the earliest.

As per reports, the election process will start after August 15. The committee is headed by Dr SM Bali, joint secretary of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), and the other members of the three-member AOA ad-hoc committee are Sunil Elangbam, secretary, Manipur Olympic Association and Mushtaque Ahmed, president of Hockey India.

In a press conference, Dr Bali said that "I am thankful to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal for his cooperation and he has urged me to hold the elections in a democratic way,"

The Assam Olympic Association has failed to hold their election and exceeds the term, the General Assembly has unanimously approved to form Ad-hoc Committee for State Olympic Association in Assam and conduct the election as the state Olympic association is bound to abide the Rules and Regulations of the Indian Olympic Association to continue its membership.
