JE Claims one more in Bokakhat

JapaneseEncephalitis Claims one more in Bokakhat on Friday night. The deceased MinuBora (72) of Kailakhat was undergoing treatment at Jorhat Medical CollegeHospital (JMCH).

125 peoplehave died due to JE in Assam till Saturday since January while the total numberof JE positive cases stood at 544 across various districts in the state.

However, the health department said that the number of cases of JE has come down in the last couple of days as the season has come to an end. Moreover, five JE death cases, one each from Chirang, Barpeta, Dima Hasao, Golaghat and Sivasagar districts have been reported on Friday.

According tohealth official, 25-30 cases were reported on daily basis during the peakseason but now the cases of JE have dropped to 8-10 as the season has gone. Theofficial said that in the next one week, the cases of JE will be declinedsignificantly though one or two cases might be reported.
