JE Death Case Increases to 84 in Assam

With Japanese Encephalitis (JE) cases rising in the state of Assam, Additional Secretary of Union Health Ministry Sanjib Kumar has instructed the state health department to make the operation strong to prevent JE cases in the state as the cases of JE will be more in the month of July and August.

84 caseshave been reported so far from across the state. Another death of JE reportedfrom Mangaldoi in Darrang district. The deceased Rohimuddin Ahmed (68) wasunder treatment at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital.

At present,4 new cases of JE have been reported from Darrang district.   

Moreover,the All Assam Students' Union (AASU) has also staged protest at Directorate ofHealth Service Office, Hengrabari on Tuesday against the government who hadfailed to prevent the cases of JE.

The AllGuwahati Students Union President Rajmil Ali, however said that the cases of JEhas increased to 84 in the days when the medical facilities are available inthe state and this is only due to the negligence of the government. He alsoalleged that the state government has failed to prevent the disease and thatthe concerned department as not taken any preventive measures which should betaken earlier before the starting of the season. It is due to the negligence ofthe government that the cases of JE have increased to hundreds and the cases ofdeath are also increasing day by day.
