Kamrup (M) ADC Chinmoy Nath Tests COVID-19+

The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Kamrup Metro Chinmoy Nath has tested positive for COVID-19. The positive cases in the city are increasing at an alarming rate and several parts of Assam are also witnessing community transmission of the deadly virus.

The results of ADC came on late night of Friday, informed an official of the Deputy Commissioner.

Nath was suffering from fever and cough and went for a swab test on July 1. He was admitted to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).

It may be mentioned that the ADC was also seen with the state health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma while visiting different quarantine centers.

Meanwhile, swab samples will be collected of those who came in contact with Nath over the last few days.

Apart from the ADC, the officer in charge of Jalukbari police station and two employees of Raj Bhawan have also tested positive for COVID-19.

Notably, over 2000 people in Guwahati have already been affected by the novel coronavirus.

Till Saturday, a total of 9799 people have been infected by the virus.

The State has witnessed 14 COVID-19 related deaths so far.
