A person was killed in a landslide at Diphu in Karbi Anglong on Monday morning. Heavy showers triggered landslides in the hilly terrain and gush of flood water swept away mud and sludge to low lying areas.

The deceased person,  Najrul Islam,  who was working in Traffic branch of Assam Police in Diphu, stayed at a rented house in Rongmirdang.

The rescue teams reached the spot after the incident and recovered the body of the deceased at around 8 a.m in the morning from the debris.
