Man brought to hospital in hand-cart

In yet another shocking incident in 21st century Assam, an old man was brought to a hospital in a hand-cart. The incident took place at Ward No.4 in Lanka town under Hojai district, where family members of the man took him to a health centre on a hand-cart.

According to his family members, they dialedMrityunjoy – 108 Ambulance Service, but the ambulance service denied serviceciting bad road. Hence family members carried him to a health centre in ahand-cart.

At a time, when Health as well as PWD Minister ofthe State, Himanta Biswa Sarma is busy making big claims on constructing roadsand providing proper healthcare ; this kind of incidents in villages and smalltowns across the State show the real conditions of the rural health services aswell as the conditions of rural communication in Assam.
