Mentally tortured by Sonowal Govt: Samujjal

Pratidin Bureau

I have been mentally tortured by this Government, exploded All Assam Student Union(AASU) adviser Dr Samujjal Kr Bhattacharrya in regard to the BJP Government and more importantly his close friend and old associate Sarbananda Sonowal's attitude towards the Citizenship Amendment Bill(CAB).

Participating in a heated debate in the Bisleshon Program with the anchor Mrinal Talukdar, he confided that he and many others had been mentally tortured by the inaction of his old comrade Sarbandna Sonowal on the Citizenship Amendment Bill act.

Dr. Samujjal Bhattacharrya abundantly made it clear that they would never toe the BJP line and never ever have anything to do with the BJP. When pointedly asked that AASU had been viewed with suspicion of going soft with the BJP, the AASU adviser bluntly said that except Bandh and Self-immolation, they had taken every democratic step to oppose the bill.

"He said that the Bill must go and there are no ifs and buts in this regard. Visibly upset, Dr. Bhattacharya was in pains to explain that all the allegations of AASU going soft with the BJP was the handiwork of some vested interest.

The AASU is meeting 26 other organisations of the state today to find out next step for the movement against the Citizenship Amendment Bill.
