Moral Policing : Suspected thieves thrashed, hospitalised

Threeyouths were attacked by a mob at Dullabcherra railway stationin Karimganj district on the suspicion of theft on Monday morning. They were beaten upmercilessly before being handed over to the police.

Thevictims have been identified as Mujib Ahmed (20), Selim Uddin (21), JohirulHaque (23).

"The three were seen sitting on the floor and getting beaten up by the locals, who also stripped off their shirts and trousers." : police said.

In another apparent case of moral policing, three youths were allegedly beaten up by villagers for attempting to steal coconut. The incident took place at Doboka in Hojai district.

They were critically injured and admitted to a local hospital. The three have been taken into custody for interrogation and police are trying to identify the locals who were involved in the incident.
