Jorhat MP Topon Kumar Gogoi has been detected with coronavirus on Saturday after mandatory COVID test was conducted for persons who would be present during the mega rally of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Chabua this afternoon.

The Bharatiya Janata Party leader was infected with the virus last year.

The news was confirmed by a senior journalist of the state on social media.

Gogoi was the former Power minister of Assam.
