NESO’s protest against Citizenship Bill today

To register its protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016, North East Students' Organisation (NESO) will hold a protest programme at the Guwahati Club Rotary, at 12 noon on Tuesday.

The programme would be held under the aegis of All Assam Students' Union (AASU).

Apart from opposing the  Bill, the students' body said its constituent organisations are also for the withdrawal of all the notifications and orders like the Foreigners' (Amendment) Order, 2015, Passport (Entry into India) Rules, 2015, Long-Term Visa, which are detrimental to the interest of the indigenous people of the NE region of the country.

The NESO comprises of Khasi Students' Union, All Assam Students' Union (AASU), Naga Students' Federation, Mizo Zirlai Pawi, Twipra Students' Federation, All Manipur Students' Union, Garo Students' Union and All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union. The NESO also announced new agitational programmes to demand withdrawal of the Bill.
