NMC Bill: AMSA to Boycott Duties on Aug 8

The AssamMedical Service Association (AMSA) will boycott all non-essential medicalservices including OPD, routine OT etc.) on August 8 showing solidarity withAll India Federation of Government Doctors Association (AIFGDA), IMA anddoctors fraternity of India in protest against the National Medical CommissionBill (NMC).

However,during the course of the protest, the AMSA members will observe smoothmaintenance of emergency medical services keeping in mind about JapaneseEncephalitis, Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) and services in flood hitareas.

In a pressrelease issued by AMSA, it said that all Health-A doctors will also remainabsent from private practice during the period of agitation to be started from6 AM on August 8 to 6 AM of August 9 showing solidarity to doctors fraternity.The statement further reads as, "AMSA members will give voluntary healthservices to flood affected people and patients suffering from fever."
