FormerAssam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Saturday asked the BJP why NRC coordinatorPrateek Hajela was not removed from his duties if he is really enlistingBangladeshi-origin people in the NRC.

Addressingthe media in Guwahati, Gogoi said, "Hajela is just a government employee and ifBJP thinks that he has done something incorrect, then why is he not beingremoved or transferred?" He further said that BJP does not want a proper NRC. "Thisis all a gimmick meant to mislead the public," Gogoi added.

Itmay be mentioned here that Assam BJP earlier slammed Hajela over the NRC andsaid that he wanted to get rid of his duties by simply completing the NRCprocess.
