Onion and Potato Price Fixes at Rs. 55 & Rs. 13 at Barpeta

The Barpetadistrict administration has fixed the price of onion and potato at Rs. 55 andRs. 13 per kg respectively in retail market.

The soaringprice of onion has put the public in dilemma and Food and Civil SuppliesMinister Phani Bhusan Choudhury has played a role of dumb on the issue.

It has alsobeen seen that the officials in the district level has shown a drama byvisiting the markets to control the price rise of essential commodities but nosuch action has been taken against the hike in price.

OnWednesday, the district administration of Barpeta has visited the market andtakes stock of the price of essential commodities and fixed the price of onionand potato at Rs. 55 and Rs. 13 per kg respectively.

However, theretail traders are not satisfied with the decision of the administration.

The traderssaid that the wholesale rate of potato is Rs. 1100 per quintal while the priceof onion is Rs. 4700 per quintal but still the traders said that they don'tgain any profit.
