Former AGP leader-cum- BJP leader Chandra Mohan Patowary has revealed that why he resigned from Asom Gana Parishad, in spite of bearing a supreme portfolio in AGP.

Saying about his resignation from the party, Patowary made few explosive statements during Panchayat election campaign in Mangaldai, today.

Patowary claimed that 'In 2014's Lok Sabha Election, AGP tried to maintain secret understanding with AIUDF and Congress.'

"Congress and AIUDF had proposed the regional party (AGP) that they will offer Rs 35 to 40 crore to crack alliance with the saffron party (BJP)."

In his statements, he mentioned the name of senior AGP leader Kumar Dipak Das, who also allegedly involved in the process.

"AGP founder-cum-former Assam Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta was also witness of the proposal, but Mahanta supported the proposal. That's why, I decided to resign from the party and came to BJP" – Patowary added.

It may be mentioned that, Patowary was the President of the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) during 2008-2011. He resigned owning responsibility for the party's poor performance in the 2011 Assam Legislative Assembly elections. He joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2014 before Lok Sabha Election.
