Prime accused in Kachua gang-rape still absconding

A week has been passed since the shocking gang-rape incident of the mentally challenged girl took place in Kachua area under Nagaon district, but the police have not yet been able to arrest the prime accused of the incident.

Though police have arrested five in connection with the incident, the key accused, a street hawker, and one of his associate are absconding. The arrested are identified to be Mafidul Islam, Mubarak Ali, Saidul Islam, Abdul Barek and Jiyabur Rahman.

According to sources, the prime suspect in the case, the hawker had taken the girl to an isolated paddy field on last Sunday and called the others there to commit the crime. The next morning police reached the spot of crime and recovered some pieces of her cloth along with jewellery that reportedly belonged to the girl.
