Research Scholar Registers Case Against IIT-G Director

A research scholar Vikrant Singh has registered a case against the Director of the Indian Institute of Technology-Guwahati (IIT-G), T G Sitaram and the Dean alleging misuse of public funds and criminal breach of trust by public servants.

According toreports, the complainant, Singh alleged the top officials of misusing theirpower by organizing a meeting in a luxury hotel in Guwahati a few months backnear to the institute, despite the campus facilities, the bills of which werepaid from the college funds.

The researchscholar at the Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering in hiscomplaint alleged that he was denied financial help from the institute toattend a seminar at Hong Kong claiming low funds and later attended the programmeat his own expenses after the institute denied to pay.

Singh, laterregistered a case against the Director and Dean under case no 135/19 underSections 409/34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Amingaon police station.

The policestarted an investigation on the incident based on the complaint.
