Assam Govt held Rs 60 lakh grant to Xabha,

Assam Government has not released the annual grant Rs 60 lakh to the Axom Xahitya Xabha because of which salaries for the employees could not be paid for last 8 months.

Alleging complete apathy of the Assam Government, the  Xabha President alleged that state government was wasting money in all possible ways but have not released the due amount to the Axom Xahitya Xabha.

Ahead of the 10th Special Session of Axom Xahitya Xabha, the prestigious literary organisation of the State has been facing financial problem. Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, the president of Assam Sahitya Sabha, Paramananda Rajbongshi said that the government of Assam is yet to pay Rs. 60 lakhs for the year 2018.

"The current government in the State does not know the history of Axom Xahitya Xabha," said Rajbongshi adding, "We are being unable to pay salaries employees for more than seven months." He said, "The government is spending lakhs of money in flying helicopters, but when it comes to Sahitya Sabha, they do not provide us our due."

Rajbongshi also informed that the organising committee of the 10th Special Session of Assam Sahitya Sabha at Rabha has been also facing financial problem.

During the press conference, the Sabha president also said that the literary organisation would not tolerate the private universities, which have prohibited Assamese language in their respective institutions.
