Several intellectuals working for ULFA: Police Commissioner

TheGuwahati Commissioner of Police on Saturday said that several intellectuals ofthe State have been directly or indirectly involved with the ULFA. Addressing apress conference on the recent grenade blast that rocked Guwahati on Wednesdayevening, Guwahati Commissioner of Police, Deepak Kumar, said that as per intelligenceinput of the Assam police, several eminent personalities of Assam are inregular touch with the ULFA.

He stressed as per the inputs of Assam police, ULFA has been using many renowned faces of the State to execute their plans. "We have inputs that many eminent personalities of Assam are in touch with the leaders of ULFA. They are working as over-ground agents of ULFA and have been discreetly helping the organisation to execute their plans," said the Commissioner of Police.

The Commissioner also added that a forum named 'Mission Seven Sisters' has been actively trying to push the idea of independent Assam and many intellectuals of the State are part of it. "The members of the forum including those intellectuals are trying to gain the sympathy of the common people by staying among the public and winning their respects," added Deepak Kumar.
