‘Sui Dhaaga’ promotes Assam culture

After Jagga Jasoos, Assam's wildlife, tea plantation, rich culture, silk industry have showcased in upcoming Hindi comedy-drama film Sui Dhaaga.

To promote the upcoming film, filmmaker has made a promotional trailer video and presented the weaving village of Sualkuchi.

Sui Dhaaga is based on traditional Chanderi sarees from local weavers of Chanderi, Madhya Pradesh. Through the film, director Sharat Katariya is trying to present the hard work and dedication of the local weavers.

The trailer also displays the entrepreneurship of Assam Designer Sanjukta Dutta – who creates unique garments by clubbing prints of different places, with the Assamese silk mekhela chador.

The film is directed by Sharat Katariya and produced by Maneesh Sharma under the banner of Yash Raj Films. It stars Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma in the lead roles. Principal photography began at Chanderi, Madhya Pradesh in February 2018 and the film is scheduled for release on 28 September 2018.
